Abhinaya School (ASD) is devoted to impart training exclusively in Bharatanatyam. ASD is an accredited center affiliated to Alagappa Performing Arts Academy,a sister concern of Alagappa University, Chennai, India.
Students at ASD are offered courses from Certificate Course to Diploma through constructive training and exams. The course is designed to suit all levels from Beginner to Intermediate and Advanced, in a child- friendly, stress- free atmosphere. The young artists are given the opportunity to showcase their accomplishments through performances to a variety of audience, receiving accolades and awards.

Curriculum Overview
Students at ASD are offered courses from Certificate Course to Diploma through constructive training and exams. The course is designed to suit all levels from Beginner to Intermediate and Advanced, in a child- friendly, stress- free atmosphere.
Beginners
Introduction to fundamental steps (Adavus), hand gestures (Hastas), and basic theoretical concepts.
Intermediate
Learning foundational repertoire items like Alarippu, Jathiswaram, and Shabdam. Focus on stamina and precision.
Advanced
Mastery of complex items like Varnam, Padam, and Thillana, with deep focus on Abhinaya (expression).
Graduation Program
Students who have completed their course are awarded an ASD graduation certficate (Margam). Students can also enroll in the Certificate Program offered by Alagappa Performing Arts Academy (CA) in collaboration with ASD.
Arrangetrams
Over the years several of the students have graduated and performed their Arrangetrams with live orchestra

Students of ASD perform all across Michigan and Ohio (Cleveland Thyagaraja) in cultural and professional settings

Nrithya Sandhya
An annual school recital where every student from beginners to advanced and graduates perform on stage to showcase their talent infront of large audience of 500 + guests.
Performance Opportunities
ASD's vast reach and network build over 20 years by founder and Guru Dhanya Vani Rao enables it's students opportunities to perform at several cultural events and stage productions.
Recognitions
Among the many accomplishments of the students, their recent performance at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival and at a reception for Governor Whitmer was very well received
